David Parks Roshi is a Zen teacher and director of Bluegrass Zen in Waco, Kentucky. He has an interest in the parables, sayings, and doings of Jesus as Christian koans, and sees all koans as vehicles for opening the heart-mind to the intimate experience of life lived freely and fully.

David Parks Roshi is a Zen teacher and director of Bluegrass Zen in Lexington and Waco, Kentucky. David has a deep interest in community and leadership development in Western Chan Koan Zen.

For David, Chan Koan Zen is about the opening and transformation of the heart-mind. Meditation and koans are the tools. Being in The United Church of Christ for almost 40 years, he is able to use his experiences and the resources of the Christian faith as encouragement along the Koan Zen path.
